Dear HGTV, Feel Free to Stalk Me...

As some of you may already know The Hubby and I applied to be on HGTV’s “My First Place” several weeks ago. After one casting video, a few weeks of patiently waiting, and many hours of nail biting we found out Saturday that we were selected as one of the Dallas couples that will appear on the show!! Yahoo!! We are so super excited! If you haven’t seen the show it’s just like “House Hunters” but only for first time home buyers. The show takes you through the journey of buying a new home and all of the joys and pains of getting there. If you've never seen the show and you’d like to watch an episode you can find full episodes HERE.

The Hubby and I have already started our hunt (2 weekends down many, many more to go) and I am discovering that my many hours of pinning “Home Inspiration” on Pinterest has given me a very unrealistic view of what our first home should look like and all the bells and whistles it should come with. Granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, custom closets with endless space, stone showers with five shower heads… REALITY CHECK! I know, I know…it’s our FIRST home not our DREAM home but a girl can wish, right? I am hoping we can find a house with some of these dream amenities but we are keeping a very open mind when it comes to buying this first home like the year it was built, can things be upgraded later, curb appeal…but there are several things that we just can’t go without:

  1. A kitchen that is worthy of all of the cooking and baking we do.
  2. A bathroom with enough storage and counter space so that we aren’t stepping on each other…my husband is 6’4” after all and that = big feet to step on little ole’ me.
  3. A house with great “flow”. Ever walk into a house and wonder who on earth would build that there???
  4. A decent sized backyard for entertaining and our two energetic pups.
  5. A great neighborhood & good school districts (ya know, for when those babies arrive!)
  6. Lots and lots of closet space!!
Sound like a lot? Ya, I know we’re expecting a lot, but hey, we have time and we don’t want to hate our new home just a few months or year after moving in. Home buying feels a lot like wedding dress shopping or dating boyfriends to me, haha! You try on a million, you like a lot of them but then there is that “ah ha!” moment and you know you’ve found the one. So, after hearing all the advice from my friends and family we are doing our best to not rush it and wait for that “ah ha!” moment!

We are so excited and cant wait to start filming and more importantly find our first home! More updates coming your way soon! For those of you who have purchased a home what's the best advice you have to offer?

  4. I am so excited for you Audra! We just bought a home this summer and all I can say is be patient and keep an open mind. We choose a HUD come that needed a lot of TLC. We are still working on it, but it has been so fun seeing it transform. Buying a house can be stressful and fun all at the same time. Goodluck!

  5. So excited for you!!! You'll have to keep us posted on air-dates once you've found "the one".
We bought our first place 4.5 years ago and looked at almost 60 houses before finding the right one. Sounds like you have a good idea of what you want/need...but remember to focus on the things you CAN'T change (i.e. location) instead of the things you can (paint colors or carpet). In the end it's about making a home not living in a perfect one.
Best wishes! It's such a fun and exciting process.

  6. How exciting! Definitely hold out for something you want. We got a really small house because it was just us 2 and well know we have 2 kids and desperately need more space.. and the market dropped.. and we are loosing a lot of money. Of course who can predict the market? I would say if you know your going to have kids, make sure your ok with it for at least 5-6 years! It usually takes 5 years to be able to sell a house and thats assuming the market doesn't get any worse (well--here at least)

Good luck! Can't wait to see the episode!

  12. We LOVE that show (my girls do too!). After being in this small little cape for 16 years now I would tell you this: Fifteen years from now it will look the way you want it to. Look at floorplan and options to make changes before you walk away. We have touched almost every room here - but we have made it ours. AND we added a family room on about 5 years ago - which we Never thought we would do. It felt like home when we walked in and it does today. Have FUN!!

  19. I was a HIV-AIDS patient and I got it from cheating on my wife. It was sort of a payback but a week later I was told by a friend that the person who I cheated with had the HIV-AIDS virus and did not tell me. I was so stupid by not using a condom I thought since he was an old school friend he was trustworthy. But I was wrong. I cried and cried. Two days later, I got a phone call from my friend and he told me about a person who is known by another friend, who can help me. I could not let my wife know what I was going through. I finally got his email address: oseremenspelltemple@gmail.com and I emailed this man my story and he replied me immediately saying i should be calm and told me that everything will be OK. I could not come to terms with what I was hearing but then I concluded it did not matter because I was so broken I just needed help. I was going out of my mind literally. I was confused with what he was telling me, but I listened. He told me about some materials i need to buy that he needed to cast the spell and I said OK. I bought the materials to him, I sent down my picture to him and my positive result sheet and he replied me that i am going to be negative under 3days. I message Him every 2hours for 2day and I knew he thought that I was crazy but I did care I needed a shoulder. Behold, the third day he messaged me i should go for a test that i will be negative. My marriage could be broken because of a stupid mistake and my life was on the line. I remembered when I was going to get the results of my re-test I called him up again and told him that I was going to get my results today and his reply was “so" and that everything will be as he explained. I knew then that he was getting tired of me calling him, maybe I was wrong. Well I got my results and the first person I called was him - again. As he said hello I started to cry and cry. I could not believe it. I was given a second chance in life. This man is a great spiritual HIV/AIDS healer, his healing spell on aids healing is very powerful .please brothers and sister, contact Dr Ose oseremenspelltemple@gmail.com
