Motorcycle Baby Shower Bunting

To follow up my Motorcycle Diaper Cake here is my Motorcycle Baby Shower Bunting! This cute little guy also went to my co-worker for her friend's motorcycle themed baby shower. I am very happy with how it turned out considering this is my first fabric bunting. Since I don't own a sewing machine (on my wish list!) I made this bunting with hot glue only.
Here is what you will need:
1. Fabric
2. Fringe
3. Ribbon
4. Scissors
5. Hot glue gun
6. Bunting template
7. Fine tip sharpie
8. Motorcycle embellishments

Start by cutting out your triangles using your template.
Next, use your hot glue gun to glue on your fringe and finish the edges of your triangles.
After you have lined you triangles with your fringe hot glue on you motorcycle embellishments.
For you last step hot glue the ribbon to the back to your triangles.
Ta-Da!
Pretty simple right? Now, go make something! Enjoy!

Dear HGTV, Feel Free to Stalk Me...

As some of you may already know The Hubby and I applied to be on HGTV’s “My First Place” several weeks ago. After one casting video, a few weeks of patiently waiting, and many hours of nail biting we found out Saturday that we were selected as one of the Dallas couples that will appear on the show!! Yahoo!! We are so super excited! If you haven’t seen the show it’s just like “House Hunters” but only for first time home buyers. The show takes you through the journey of buying a new home and all of the joys and pains of getting there. If you've never seen the show and you’d like to watch an episode you can find full episodes HERE.

The Hubby and I have already started our hunt (2 weekends down many, many more to go) and I am discovering that my many hours of pinning “Home Inspiration” on Pinterest has given me a very unrealistic view of what our first home should look like and all the bells and whistles it should come with. Granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, custom closets with endless space, stone showers with five shower heads… REALITY CHECK! I know, I know…it’s our FIRST home not our DREAM home but a girl can wish, right? I am hoping we can find a house with some of these dream amenities but we are keeping a very open mind when it comes to buying this first home like the year it was built, can things be upgraded later, curb appeal…but there are several things that we just can’t go without:

  1. A kitchen that is worthy of all of the cooking and baking we do.
  2. A bathroom with enough storage and counter space so that we aren’t stepping on each other…my husband is 6’4” after all and that = big feet to step on little ole’ me.
  3. A house with great “flow”. Ever walk into a house and wonder who on earth would build that there???
  4. A decent sized backyard for entertaining and our two energetic pups.
  5. A great neighborhood & good school districts (ya know, for when those babies arrive!)
  6. Lots and lots of closet space!!
Sound like a lot? Ya, I know we’re expecting a lot, but hey, we have time and we don’t want to hate our new home just a few months or year after moving in. Home buying feels a lot like wedding dress shopping or dating boyfriends to me, haha! You try on a million, you like a lot of them but then there is that “ah ha!” moment and you know you’ve found the one. So, after hearing all the advice from my friends and family we are doing our best to not rush it and wait for that “ah ha!” moment!

We are so excited and cant wait to start filming and more importantly find our first home! More updates coming your way soon! For those of you who have purchased a home what's the best advice you have to offer?

Motorcycle Diaper Cake...Vroom!

Someone's getting baby fever!! Just kidding...Or am I??
A few weeks ago I made my very first Diaper Cake for one of my best friends. I had so much fun making it and my friends and coworkers loved it! A few days ago one of my coworkers asked me to help with decorations for a motorcycle themed baby shower. You know me, I was happy to help!! I told her what to buy and leave the rest to me! So now that I've made my first Motorcycle Diaper Cake I'm going to show you how to make your own!

My Motorcycle Diaper Cake

Here is What You'll Need
 1. About 30 to 40 diapers size 1
2. Two receiving blankets
3. Two Bibs
4. One Washcloth
5. One pair of baby sock or booties
6. One teething ring
7. Two large rubber bands
8. One small bottle
9. One medium sized stuffed animal
10. Medium sized cake pan

Step by Step Directions
Step 1: Start by placing your diapers in a circular shape in your cake pan. I used 18 diapers per wheel.
Step 2: Place a large rubber band around your diapers. Hold your wheel in place while pulling on one diaper at a time to the right until you achieve your desired wheel shape.
Step 3: Fold your receiving blankets to about one and half inch width. These will connect your wheels and make your handle bars.
Step 4: Feed your receiving blanket through your first wheel.
Step 5: Connect your two wheels by feeding the receiving blanket through the second wheel. Tuck your excess receiving blanket in to your BACK tire.
Step 6: Wrap your wheels with ribbon to cover your rubber bands...I got ahead of myself. You should do this before connecting your tires to make it easier but either way it still works.
Step 7: Feed your second receiving blanket through your FRONT tire.
Step 8: Place a bib on the front and back tire.
Step 9: To secure your bibs, tuck them in to your diaper tires.
Step 10: Connect your handle bars with a rubber band and the teething ring. Slide in your bottle under the handle bars as the headlight.
Step 11: Cover your rubber band with ribbon and a bow. Add your socks or booties as the handles on the handle bars.
Step 12: Add a washcloth as the motorcycle seat.
Step 13: Add your stuffed animal and you're done!

Pretty easy right? Here are a few more shots of my finished Motorcycle Diaper Cake!
Vroom, vroom!! Enjoy!
