Diamond Candles - Product Review

If you're like me, gift buying for girlfriends can be a little daunting. Let's face it ladies, sometimes we are hard to shop for! You want to get a nice gift, but what if they don't like it? No one wants to be known  as a bad gifter, right?! Do you get a gift card?...too impersonal. Or what about a mani pedi combo?...its been done. Dinner and drinks?...so boring! But what if I told you that you could give your girlfriends, moms, sister, aunts or grandmothers...wait for it...diamonds!? Yep, I said diamonds! Not only that, with those diamonds you could give them a great big, yummy smelling, fill your room with deliciousness, candle! Hold on a second, I bet you're thinking, "those two things don't go together." Well, my friends, they sure do! They're called Diamond Candles! These candles come in a variety of oh-so-yummy flavors, and for only $24.95 you might want to buy one in every scent! I was so excited when Diamond Candles contacted me to do this product review, one, because I love candles and two, well, I love diamonds way more than I love candles!! Joking aside, I really do love this product!
Here's the scoop on Diamond Candles:
With the purchase of each Earth friendly soy candle, you are in store for an exciting 'ring reveal'! You could find a ring worth $10, $100, $1000 or $5000! A gift within a gift? Sign me up! The particular candle that I received was Chocolate Truffle and, let me tell you, it is heavenly! My house is filled with the wonderful aroma of chocolate, yum! About 3 to 4 hours of burning is required before the big ring reveal...but let's face it, most of us can't stand the wait and will be digging like mad women for that ring! When you can see the gold foil, which your ring has been carefully wrapped in, blow out your candle and use something like tweezers or a plastic spoon to fish out your ring. Be sure to have some paper towels handy because that wax can get messy! Each candle holds a unique ring, which is great because you can collect a variety! To determine the value of your ring, look on the inside of the ring. If there is something stamped like China or Thailand, your ring is most likely worth $10. If your ring has something printed like 10K, your ring is most likely worth more than $100! To get an accurate estimate, you will want to take your ring to a jeweler. Sadly, I was not lucky, my ring is probably worth $10, however, I still think it's really cute and it fits my tiny fingers! It actually reminds me of a Konstantino ring, dontcha think?
How fun are these candles?! I am really enjoying mine! I hope that you will stop by their website and maybe even buy a candle or two! If you do, be sure to visit their Facebook page and upload a picture of your ring! Enjoy!

Roast Beef Pinwheels

I don't know about you, but I sure do get tired of eating sandwiches for lunch at work. Sure, I could go out and spend an easy $8.00 on lunch but we try to stick to a budget and only eat out once a week, normally a nice dinner on a Friday night. So, every so often I like to make pinwheels! They are simple to make and you can make them the night before for an easy grab and go lunch in the morning!

Roast Beef Pinwheels

Directions:
  1. Spread cream cheese on to the tortilla keeping a one inch border clear of all ingredients
  2. Layer on 2 to 3 pieces of deli meat, spinach leaves and diced roasted red peppers
  3. Add a drizzle of Boars Head Savory Remoulade
  4. Roll the pinwheel as tight as possible without breaking the tortilla
  5. Wrap the pinwheel roll in a sheet of plastic wrap and place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving
  6. When ready to serve, unwrap the roll from the plastic wrap and place toothpicks evenly down the roll
  7. Cut with a sharp knife between each toothpick and push the toothpick all the way through each pinwheel
  8. Serve and enjoy
I love these for lunch, but I also make them for parties, they're always a hit! You can add different types of meat, veggies and sauce to make it your own. Enjoy!

Glitter Sunglasses

Hello, my name is Audra, and I ... am addicted to glitter.

Whew, glad to get that out in the open! Now that we have established that I am a glitter-a-holic, I can show you a fun little tutorial that I came up with this weekend. These glasses, much like my Glitter Sole Heels, are sure to make you {SHINE}!

Turn an ordinary pair of sunglasses into a head turning accessory! People pay $100 or more for statement piece sunglasses, but you my friend can take a $14.99 pair of sunglasses and do it yourself! This project cost a whopping total of $20.00. If that doesn't tickle your frugal fancy, I don't know what will!

Materials:
Target Sunglasses - $14.99
Mod Podge - Gloss - Owned
Martha Stewart Fine Powder Glitter - $5.00
(This particular color is Smokey Quartz)
Paintbrush - Owned
Clear nail polish - Owned
Paper plate - Owned
  1. Clean your sunglasses so there is no debris on the arms
  2. Mix a small amount of Mod Podge - Gloss with a small amount of glitter
  3. Paint on a thin layer of your Mod Podge / glitter mix
  4. Immediately sprinkle on a layer of dry glitter on all areas of the arms
  5. Lightly tap off any excess glitter
  6. Lay the sunglasses on the front of the lenses so that the arms are sticking straight into the air and allow to dry for at least one to two hours
  7. Paint on a thick layer of clear nail polish on top of the glitter
  8. Return to the drying position and allow to dry for another hour
  9. Test your sunglasses by touching the arms and make sure they are dry
  10. If there are no tacky areas, run your fingers over the arms and feel for "rough" spots. If you find an area where you can feel the glitter grains, apply another small amount of clear nail polish and let dry
  11. When your sunglasses are dry and relatively smooth you are ready to turn heads, enjoy!

Featured Blog:
Hi! I'm Emily from 52 Mantels, a blog about all things home including weekly mantel makeovers, easy DIY projects, seasonal crafts and simple recipes! I'm blessed to be the stay-at-home mother to one adorable little girl and the lucky wife to an ever-supportive hubby (who puts up with my endless projects!).

I adore: Winter Parties, Spring flowers, Summer nights and Fall clothing! Throw in a sugar-free vanilla iced coffee and I'm a happy girl!

Five Things About Me:

1) I recently became a full time mom, but before that I worked as a nurse in the neonatal ICU for almost 7 years.

2) I can't go to Target without visiting the Dollar Spot and the Starbucks counter. Target has managed to combine my great loves!

3) I spent a year living in Africa (Southern Sudan) and in that year I white water rafted part of the Nile River. Scary and FUN!

4) Speaking of Africa...I went on safari during an R&R time and one night woke to find a baby hippopotamaus standing by my tent opening, literally touching distance from me! And, I would have touched him if I didn't know how deadly momma hippopotamouses could be!! Yikes!

5) I enjoy going to weekly playgroup probably more than my daughter! The time I get to spend talking to other moms makes me feel refreshed...and, normal!

Chicken Enchilada Soup

It's official, my husband has dubbed me the soup queen....I just love soups. They save me so much time, I can make a large batch and we have dinner all week! Budget and time friendly! This recipe is one of my hubby's favorite, combining some of his favorite things, chicken, avocado, sour cream and cheese. Mmmmm!

Chicken Enchilada Soup

Directions:
Cook chicken breasts and shred. In a large pot combine all ingredients. Make sure to drain your black beans, corn and Ro*tel. Cook over medium heat for 30 minutes stirring occasionally. Serve with diced avocado, sour cream and lime juice. These are optional but that is how the hubs and I like it. To add spice you can use hot enchilada sauce or add in diced jalapenos. If you feel the soup is too thick, add in an extra 1/2 cup of milk.

A very quick and easy soup! This recipe yields 5 to 7 servings....depending on how much you like to eat! Enjoy.

Cake Batter Mint Whoopie Pies

Looking for a last minute St. Paddy's Day treat? I have just the thing, Cake Batter Mint Whoopie Pies! If you haven't had an opportunity to try my Cake Batter Cookies recipe, here is your chance. This recipe is quick, easy, and if you bake a lot, like me, you probably have all of the ingredients just waiting in the pantry and fridge!

Cake Batter Mint Whoopie Pies

Directions:

For the cookies
Beat together your softened butter and sugar using an electric mixer until well combined. Add cake mix, flour, salt, and vanilla, mix thoroughly. Add up to 5 tablespoons of milk or more if needed to make a dough consistency. Roll dough into one inch small balls and place onto a baking sheet. Slightly flatten your dough balls. I like to use a rubber baking mat so that the bottoms don't burn. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees and bake your cookies for 9 to 10 minutes. Place on a cooling rack and set aside.

For the filling
Beat together your softened cream cheese, butter, sugar, and peppermint until well combined. Add in a few drops of green food dye and stir in. Add more food coloring until the desired color is made.

Once your cookies have cooled, pipe the filling onto one cookie half and sandwich with the other. You can add green and white sprinkles to make them more festive, but it's not required. Refrigerate your pies before serving so the filling will set. After refrigerating for about an hour, I like to store them in a Tupperware at room temp so that the cookies don't harden. This recipe yields about 8 medium sized whoopie pies, it just depends on how big you make your cookie halves. Perfect with a tall glass of milk and don't forget a napkin, that filling likes to escape! Enjoy!
