Easy Berry Cobbler

Is your mouth watering yet? Cobbler always makes me look forward to summer. Warm, delicious berries combined with sweet vanilla ice cream...yuh-um! This recipe is quick, easy, and tastes like you made it from scratch! Would you believe me if I told you it only requires three ingredients?? Get excited, because it's true! This is literally the BEST cobbler I've ever made and it was so easy to make!
Easy Berry Cobbler

Ingredients
  • 2 bags of frozen mixed berries (about 24oz total)
  • 1 box yellow cake mix - butter recipe
  • 1 1/2 cans Sprite

Directions
Grease a 13x9 cake pan. Line pan with frozen berries, enough to cover the bottom. Pour the cake mix powder over the berries so that they are covered. Slowly pour your can and a half of Sprite over the cake mix. Do not stir the Sprite with cake mix. You want it to bubble up on the surface. Try to cover as much of the surface as you can with the Sprite so you have a large bubble of liquid on top. This will create your "crust." Bake at 350 for 50 minutes. Allow your cobbler to cool until slightly warm. Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and pour a large glass of milk. Enjoy!

How Does Your Garden Grow - Giveaway!

Spring is in full bloom here in Texas. Now, more than ever, I wish that I had a small garden. A new house, awesome backyard and great weather, why wouldn't I have a garden? The answer to that question is two furry, rambunctious, little pups. I can see it now, garden planted, growing beautifully, and coming home to soil covered puppy with a big grin on their face! I suppose I could build the raised planters, but what's the point? They'd manage to get into it somehow! Clever little rascals. So how do we city slicker, digging-dog owners, quench our springtime garden thirst? Well, if you're a novice gardener like myself, who's green thumb extends about as far as a strawberry plant you had when you were a kid, then you'll appreciate my new discovery, Back to the Roots mushroom kits! Back to the Roots is a sustainable urban mushroom farm in Oakland who offer gourmet mushroom kits that grow entirely on recycled coffee grounds! If that isn't impressive enough, these kits can be grown from the comfort of your house, comfortably perched on a window ledge. I was skeptical when I first opened my kit, unsure how it would work, but in a few short days I was growing beautiful pearl oyster mushrooms. Just take a look at my kit!
In about ten days, you will have your own mini garden of home grown mushrooms! For detailed instructions on how to grow your mushrooms, check out this blog at Snapguide. Back to the Roots is also running a great campaign where you can post a picture of your grown mushroom kit on their Facebook page and they will donate a sustainability curriculum and kit to the elementary school of your choice!

I had a great time growing my kit! It was so interesting to see how it worked, watching the mushrooms grow a little each day! For dinner, I diced and sauteed my mushrooms and used them to top a bacon wrapped wrapped filet with goat cheese, yum!
Ready for a chance to win your own kit? Enter for your chance below! If you don't win, don't worry! You can use this discount code: Mushrooms4me10 to purchase your own! Good luck!

Featured Sponsor Giveaway - Bear Rabbit Bear

Hi folks! I hope you have had the pleasure of my meeting my lovely sponsor, Bear Rabbit Bear! If not, let me tell you more about her!

Bear Rabbit Bear is an adorable blog that shares projects and thoughts aimed to inspire you! Melanie shares some wonderful tutorials from crafts to sewing to cooking! She even hosts a great giveaway from time to time! I asked Melanie to share with us more about herself, here is what she had to say.
Q: What inspired you to start your blog?

A: As far as "hobbies" go, I have always been passionate about two things: writing and crafting. Once I was introduced to the world of blogging by stumbling across Sugar Bee Crafts one day, I realized that I could mesh the best of both worlds together into a ideal outlet!

Q: What are your favorite types of projects to post about?
A: I love anything crafty, but especially sewing and kids projects. I hear so many people saying, "I wish I could sew, but I'm not talented enough.", and I just want to yell, "YES YOU CAN!!" That's why many projects on my blog, especially sewing projects, are beginner level to help inspire new seamstresses out there.

Q: What is the best advice you can give to a new blogger?
A: Decide what you want from your blog early on. This will help determine the steps that you need to take in order to get there. Comment frequently and form a friendship with bloggers who have been blogging for a year or more- most of them are willing to help you out!

Now that you know a little more about Melanie, guess what else? Today she is giving away a FREE one month sponsor ad for her blog! Wouldn't you love to win that? We all love free advertising, am I right?! Well, here's your chance!
Today's giveaway includes:
- One month 250x250 blog ad
- Weekly Facebook and Twitter endorsement
- Individual sponsor post with giveaway option

Please be sure to complete the two mandatory entries to be eligible to win. There are multiple ways to enter, the more ways you enter the better your odds. Good luck!

I’m currently a stay at home Mom with two gorgeous boys, Alec and Asher, who are five years apart. I’m married to a wonderful husband, Jay, who works in IT for a major retail chain. I became a stay at home Mom in November of 2008 while my first son was 2 1/2. I’ve never considered myself “crafty” and then…PINTEREST! Now I host a monthly Pinterest girls night and I love to create things. I am the only girl in the house and any chance I can use glitter I do. I am hoping we can glitterize this world together! I also host a Toot Your Horn Tuesday Link Party where you can link up anything you want to Toot Your Horn about. We all need to do that sometimes :)

5 Funny Facts:

1. This might be dating me a bit but in high school, I was nicknamed Boxcar from the Boxcar Willy infomercials. I loved country music and all I wanted to do was be a country music singer. I was country, when country wasn't cool! Moved to Nashville like everyone else and didn't follow my dream. Now I rarely listen to country music unless it's one of my favorite artists.
2. We have a cat and she actually was going to be called Lucky. When we took her to the vet, they begged us to change her name because most animals with that name aren't so "lucky." Her name is Happy.
3. I was a band geek in high school and I absolutely loved it!
4 . I was well known in college for a Pete's Dragon imitation (don't ask!)
5. I have a very long tongue. I can touch the tip of my nose.

Inspiring Quotes & Printable Quote Art

It has been a slow crafting / baking week at the Kurtz residence. We are finishing up out FINAL filming with HGTV this Sunday...finally! Don't get me wrong I have had a blast filming for our episode of My First Place, but I am ready to have my weekends back to myself (we been filming for almost 8 or 9 months, I've lost track) and to actually see all of our hard work on TV! The episode should be airing in October or November this year! I will be sure to let you know the exact air date when I know!

So, since I have been MIA from crafting and baking this week I have been surfing Pinterest, a lot. I love pinning inspiring quotes on my Pinterest boards, so, I thought I would try my hand at making some printable art! These are some of my favorite quotes that have just been on my mind lately. The first is my absolute favorite quote and the other two are lyrics from two songs that I love. I took typography in college...I know that sounds like a blasty blast, right? It was a pretty interesting class...I learned all about the font Helvetica, even watched a documentary on it, ha! I hope you enjoy! Feel free to pin and print!
